The Bible, not just stories
Every session is built around Scripture. Children meet the people, events, and promises of God in the Bible in language they can actually follow — and, more importantly, they meet the Christ at the centre of all of it.

Plenty of parents start looking for a church not for themselves, but for their child. If that is you, you are on the right page. Every Sunday at 09:30, children gather for Sunday School at GKBJ Taman Kencana — at the very same time you are in the service.

Your Sunday
We know the worries that come with bringing a young child to church: will they get restless, will I spend the whole service settling them, will we end up distracting everyone around us. So we have kept the schedule simple.
You attend the 09:30 worship service. At exactly the same time, your child is in Sunday School in their own room. You never have to choose between worshipping attentively and being there for your child — both happen at once.
You drop your child off at the Sunday School room before the service starts, then head into the sanctuary. When the service ends, you collect them from the same room. Children wait with the Sunday School team until a parent arrives — they are not sent off to find you on their own.
If this is your first visit, our New Here page explains what our services feel like, and the Sunday Service page lists all three service times: 07:30, 09:30, and 11:30.
Teaching
Sunday School is not childcare. It is a real hour of learning, wrapped in a way children enjoy.

Every session is built around Scripture. Children meet the people, events, and promises of God in the Bible in language they can actually follow — and, more importantly, they meet the Christ at the centre of all of it.
02
A five-year-old and a ten-year-old do not learn the same way. That is why Sunday School is split into age-based groups, so the explanations, activities, and questions match the stage a child is genuinely at.
03
Songs, games, and crafts are part of what makes Sunday fun. But they all serve one purpose: helping children remember and understand what is true, rather than simply filling the hour while their parents worship.
04
Your child will get to know other children their age who are growing in the same faith. Friendships that start in Sunday School often carry on into their teenage years at Heart of Teen.
Sunday School sits within our NextGen department, which covers children, teens, and young adults at GKBJ Taman Kencana. That means your child's journey does not end when they outgrow Sunday School — there is already a community waiting for them at the next stage.
Peace of Mind
If there is anything else you want to check before you come — anything at all — ask us first on WhatsApp or through our contact page. No question is too small when it is about your child.
Teens
If your child feels too old for Sunday School, there is somewhere else for them. Heart of Teen is our teen community at GKBJ Taman Kencana, meeting every Sunday at 07:30 — with discussion, friendship, and the kind of honest questions that belong to that age.
Many families arrive with children at two different stages: the younger one to Sunday School at 09:30, the older one to Heart of Teen at 07:30. Both sit under the same ministry, with the same direction in what is taught.

Practical Steps
These five small steps make your first Sunday far easier.
Send a WhatsApp to 0811 9913 366 and tell us your child's age. We will let you know which class fits and what to bring, so Sunday morning feels lighter.
Getting there around 09:20 gives your child time to look around the room, meet the Sunday School team, and settle in without being rushed.
Tell them it is your first visit. They will walk you and your child straight to the Sunday School room — you will not have to go looking for it yourself.
If your child is shy, you are welcome to stay for that first session. Nobody will push you to leave before your child is ready.
Once the service ends, collect your child from the same room. Take a moment to ask the Sunday School team how their morning went.
