English Speakers
The honest answer first
We do not hold an English service. Every Sunday service here is in Indonesian. We would rather you knew that now than after crossing Jakarta on a Sunday morning — but our door is genuinely open, and this page explains what visiting actually looks like.
Straight Talk
We don't run an English-language service
All three of our Sunday services — 07:30, 09:30 and 11:30 — are preached and led in Indonesian. There is no English service, no English congregation, and no simultaneous translation.
We put it this bluntly because the worst thing a church can do to a visitor is let them travel across the city on a Sunday morning only to discover they cannot follow a word of it.
If you would still like to come — and people do — you are genuinely welcome. Here is what remains open to you.
What You Can Follow
Language isn't the only door
Scripture Reading
Every service names the book, chapter and verses being read. You can follow along in your own English Bible or in an app on your phone.
Congregational Singing
Some of what we sing comes from hymns and songs widely known in English too. Lyrics are projected, so you can follow the shape of it even without the language.
Conversation Afterwards
Many in our congregation speak English. Tell us you're coming and we'll arrange for someone to meet you and sit with you.
Our sermon titles are usually in English — "Grace That Raises Us", "The Battle We Cannot See" — even though the preaching is in Indonesian. The full archive is on our YouTube channel.

Common Questions
What people usually ask
Does GKBJ Taman Kencana have an English service?
No. All of our Sunday services — 07:30, 09:30 and 11:30 — are held in Indonesian. We would rather tell you plainly than have you find out on a Sunday morning.
I don't speak Indonesian. Can I still come?
Yes, and you are genuinely welcome. Much of the service is still followable: congregational singing, the Scripture reading (which you can follow in your own English Bible), and prayer. Message us on WhatsApp before you come and we will arrange for someone to meet you at the door.
Is any material available in English?
This website has a full English version, and our sermon titles are usually in English even though the preaching itself is in Indonesian. The sermon archive is on our YouTube channel, @gkbjtamankencana.
Where is the church and how do I get there?
We are at Perumahan Taman Kencana Blok A1 No. 16, Cengkareng, West Jakarta 11730 — an easy trip from Kalideres, Kembangan, Grogol Petamburan, Kebon Jeruk and Tangerang.
How do I contact the church before visiting?
WhatsApp 0811 9913 366 or call (021) 555-2868. You can also email info@gerejaku.org. We are glad to answer questions before you come.
Tell us before you come
One short message is enough. We'll have someone meet you at the entrance and sit with you through the service.
