Full Schedule

Three service times, one message

The sermon, the songs, and the order of service are identical at all three hours. What differs is the atmosphere — and that is usually what decides it. Here is a short guide to choosing.

07:30

Service I

Early risers

The earliest and usually the quietest hour. A good fit if you want to be home before midday or have family plans afterwards. Heart of Teen meets at the same time.

09:30

Service II

Families with children

The busiest hour. Children’s Sunday School runs alongside it, so parents can worship undistracted. Arrive a little early if you need to drop children off first.

11:30

Service III

Anyone who missed the morning

The best option if you are a late riser, arriving back from a trip, or working late on Saturday. The content is identical to the two earlier services.

07:30

Teenagers

Heart of Teen

A service for teens with biblical teaching pitched in their language.

Youth Ministry

09:30

Children

Sunday School

Bible stories, singing, and age-appropriate activities running alongside the second main service.

Sunday School

The last service of the day starts at 11:30, so we do not hold an evening or night service. If you cannot attend in person, past sermons can be watched any time on our YouTube channel, and recent recordings are collected on our Media page.

What to Expect

Simple, warm, and centred on Scripture

GKBJ Taman Kencana is a Reformed Baptist (Particular Baptist) church, serving since 1987 as a branch of GKBJ, founded in 1952. We hold to the Five Solas, and that shapes how we worship: Scripture does most of the talking, not the platform.

A service runs about 90 minutes. There is no dress code — some come in a collared shirt, others in a t-shirt. The only thing we ask is that you come ready to listen to God's Word.

Preaching is led by Pdt. Tyas Affandi and our teaching team, and it is expository: we work through a book of the Bible in sequence week after week, so the congregation hears the whole of Scripture rather than only the familiar passages.

Visiting for the first time?

01

Congregational singing

We sing together — hymns and songs rooted in Scripture, led simply so that the congregation sings rather than watches.

02

Scripture reading and prayer

The Bible is read aloud before the congregation, followed by prayer for the church, for families, and for the city of Jakarta.

03

Expository preaching

The longest part of the service. The preacher works through one passage verse by verse, explaining what it meant before applying it to everyday life.

04

Response and close

Offering, closing prayer, and time to greet one another. Our welcome team is happy to answer any questions you have.

Common Questions

What people ask most

What time are Sunday services at GKBJ Taman Kencana?

We hold three Sunday services: 07:30, 09:30, and 11:30 WIB, at Perumahan Taman Kencana Blok A1 No. 16, Cengkareng, West Jakarta 11730. All three follow the same order of service and the same sermon, so choose whichever hour fits your week.

Is there an evening service on Sunday?

No. Our Sunday services run in the morning and early afternoon only — 07:30, 09:30, and 11:30 WIB. The last service of the day begins at 11:30. If you cannot make those hours, past sermons are archived on our YouTube channel @gkbjtamankencana.

How long does a service last?

About 90 minutes, covering congregational singing, Scripture reading, prayer, and an expository sermon. Because another service follows two hours later, we keep to the schedule closely.

Do children stay in the main service?

Children are welcome to sit with their parents in the main service, and we are glad to hear them. Sunday School for children also runs every Sunday at 09:30, alongside the second service, so parents can worship while children learn Scripture at their own level.

Do I need to register before attending a Sunday service?

No registration is needed. Regular Sunday services are open to anyone — simply arrive a few minutes before the start time. Registration through flow.gkbj.org applies only to special events, not to weekly Sunday worship.

Is there a separate service for teenagers on Sunday?

Yes. Heart of Teen meets every Sunday at 07:30, at the same time as the first main service. Teens arriving with their parents can join straight away without signing up in advance.

Still have a question? Send us a note through our contact page or message 0811 9913 366 on WhatsApp. We usually reply the same day.
